Fall 2022 fashion trends | Fashion POPSUGAR

The fall 2022 season found designers in all four major fashion capitals reflecting on the state of the world. The result? A fresh set of trends – from reinvented sportswear to reworked denim – to welcome a future where we return to our pre-pandemic lives, hopefully with the wisdom gained over the past two years.

With Miu Miu’s viral hipster miniskirts, the love affair with Y2K fashion continues. Diesel’s denim-dressed designs and Loewe’s denim shoes signal a new era for timeless textiles. Elements inspired by motorcycle racing were introduced; blazers were designed to project a sense of gravity; and lingerie-style pieces like sheer bras and corsets were made to be seen. And for those of us who think the return to normality is too abrupt, there’s no shortage of blanket silhouettes that don’t sacrifice style or comfort. Elsewhere, Thom Browne’s reworked knits, zany oversized coats and patchwork suit sets put a fun new spin on business attire. The designer broke with the traditional Fashion Week schedule by holding his show in an industrial venue filled with teddy bears in New York City on April 29.

Each trend marks a new beginning after a long period of uncertainty. While some lean towards the edgy side (see Gucci’s sporty corset and Yohji Yamamoto’s deconstructed denim shirt), the majority of them are surprisingly easy to wear. Whether you want to experiment with wacky silhouettes and accessories, or prefer to update your classic wardrobe basics, fashion ideas abound.

Coming soon, get inspired by the new sporty silhouettes; cool denim pieces; knit cozy sets; bold drop-waist skirts; sultry lingerie looks; the angry motorbikes separate; and sharp blazers. Read on for the top seven runway trends of the fall season.
